Interactive Comics - We the Curious
Vast amounts of personal digital data are stored and used for commercial purposes, but these data can also be a valuable resource for researchers and be used for public good. Does knowing this impact my attitudes towards privacy, personal data and how it should be used? This was the main idea behind an interactive comic I designed and produced for Shopping Trolley Secrets, an exhibition based at the Open City Lab at We The Curious in collaboration with the Digital Footprints Lab, University of Bristol.
The project helped achieve the following objectives
Tell a story about the value of digital data for research to a diverse audience
Include prompts which nudge visitors to think around issues related to privacy and data donation in a playful way
Invite visitors to interact and share responses
Help create a space for dialogue between researchers and the public
